Don't Forget The Staple: The Pump

The classic pump, one of the main things a woman should have in her wardrobe but I have a confession. I didn't actually buy a pair until last year. I had other kinds of heels and tons of heeled sandals but not one pump. I think my logic was that because I am 5'10 there was no need for me to wear a pump.I think I was going through some things because looking back on that mind set, I think it is utter....well you know what. Buying a pump may seem like a fairly easy thing to do but there are some things to keep in mind when you're buying a good pump.
  1. The purpose of the pump
Where the heck are you planning to wear this beauty? If it's mostly for work and you are constantly walking you may not want to wear a 4 inch stiletto. If you have not mastered walking in high heels, don't even try buying a super high heel. Believe me i've tried it once and I pretty much looked like a newborn giraffe trying to find its legs in order to walk, not a pretty sight.  If you're not an expert in walking try of course a smaller heel but don't be afraid to get a weee bit of a thicker heel, but avoid getting one with super thick heel or you will probably look like someone's granny.

     2. What kind of toe should I get?

Unless you are new to wearing heels (and if you are How YOU doin?) you know that shoes have different ends: pointed, rounded, square, classic are the main ones. Each toe comes in and out of style depending on the year but we're talking staples here meaning they will never go out of style. So for this purpose I would stick to the classic toed heel. Is a bit rounded on at the end but not too rounded like a Mary Jane shoe. Most heels are classic toed so it won't be hard to find.

    3. Toe cleavage or not to toe cleavage?

This is all personal choice I suppose, I personally am not a fan of toe cleavage but if want to peek a boo a little toe then its fine as long as you follow the major rules of a good pump.

     4. Comfort

This really shouldn't even be a part of this guide line because I think its common sense, but you would be amazed at the amount of women that walk around all day with their feel balled up in a knot because the shoe looks great. My southern advise would call you a damn fool, but its your toes and spine you will permanently damage so good luck with that when you hit 50 and you're hunched over. Fashion is not pain people, wear a shoe that is comfortable, get some padding, do toe and arch strengthening exercises or something.

That's pretty much the basics, pretty simple and common sense right? Oh and as a bonus here is a guide to how to walk properly in your new shoes. Enjoy!
