Interview With Designer Evon and Her Collection Armoire

I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with designer Evon about her big switch from chemical engineering to fashion design and why she decided to start her collection Armoire. I found myself being able to easily relate to her switching myself from the world of psychology to fashion design. It has always been an interest of mine to hear about someone else's walk in life and every now and again you find someone who shares a similar walk as you do,  from that you will always take away something new. What I learned from speaking with  Evon is that no matter what, follow your dreams and do what satisfies you in life, with that alone everything will work itself out. From seeing the success of Evon's collection, Armoire,  she is living proof of that if you dream big you will succeed big.

Armoire  is a collection of classic and sultry pieces that can easily be dressed up or down for a night on the town or for a girl on the go at work. Evon's engineering experience is obvious throughout this collection, all her garments are well though out in detailing and  precision in order to achieve perfect fit. Everything in this collection is done with the purpose of flattering the curves of  the female form. Well placed ruffles melt around shoulder points and the bust, pleating and tucks hug around  the body beautifully like in her signature origami dress seen above. Ultra feminine and flirtatious in nature, this collection leaves us all in love with Armoire.

HC&W:  Why did you start Armoire?
Evon: I started Armoire because it is time to make my dream a reality.


HC&W:  How long have you been designing clothing or sewing?
Evon: I’ve started right after I’ve graduate from my bachelors in Chemical Engineering! I have always loved designing right after high school but I always didn’t have the courage to plunge into it. I’m not sure why. The confidence probably came after I’ve given enough energy into engineering.


HC&W: As a designer, what inspires you?
Evon: I would say beautiful things inspire me but most of all its travelling. I was thinking a lot while I was travelling in Europe. Especially the train ride from Rome to Paris. It was such a long ride, it was kind of therapeutic. Many ideas were popping and I had to scribble it down! That’s when I decided if not now, when?


HC&W: Who are some of your favorite designers and why?
Evon: I love Vera Wang. I love how her whimsical touches can make fairytales come alive.


HC&W: What makes your Armoire different from other companies?
Evon: Armoire will step into the scene from an engineer’s perspective. The difference will be obvious.
