G.V.G.V Fall 2011

If Harry Potter existed in the 1990s grunge era this would probably be the clothes used. I know that sounds like some weird dream but it really works for Japanese designer MUG. Her eclectic taste for British trends blended in with Japanese street fashion makes for a very different yet very interesting collection. Using layering of prints and weights of fabric, these clothes are beautifully effortless. Fashion to me is not all about being sleek and perfect the imperfection of this line is what makes it so interesting and very wearable. When you view it, you may have a different perspective of this line the way when two different people try to interpret a piece of art work, its all about how you personally see it and I personally think it is wonderful.

Toga Plays With Silhouttes For Fall 2011

Even though Japan Fashion Week was canceled due to the earthquake last month, designers have come together in Tokyo to showcase their Fall collections. Toga was one of the standouts with their play on silhouettes by creating fullness in the hips and arms while pulling back in the shoulders and waist. Combining angular edge with soft, flowing femininity, Toga created a futuristic look with hints of 40s, 60, and 80s. I know that doesn't sound like it would go together on paper but visually it makes for a beautifully well rounded collection of garments. What I love the most about this collection is the small ethnic inspired detailing in the tights and tops. Also the hint of bows which generally is not my thing but in this case it is feminine yet doesn't create a juvenile look.

Fall 2011 Eco Fashion: Not Your Burlap Sack

Edun

It seems as though people in general and especially big businesses have really started to try and be more eco friendly with everything from cars to laundry detergent. So it was only inevitable that this booming trend would trickle over to the fashion world.

Eco designing in general is not something new, there have been plenty of designers who have made a conscious effort to be less wasteful and more aware of the polyester and plastics materials they are using. The only thing about eco fashion before was that well...if you saw the clothes they were obviously eco friendly (in other words they looked like a dirty potato sack). Now a days eco fashion has developed into an array of different styles from classic and bohemian to ultra modern. With that being said here are some eco friendly examples from designers that are doing their part in saving the planet. Who said you can't save the earth and be fabulous while you're doing it?

Coinonia Fall 2011: Visionary Deconstruction

I am in love with today's contemporary designers. While we have spent the last decade paying homage to past decades, new designers like Momoko Hashigami and Kiho Kim are giving us a distinct look into the future of fashion. Coinonia is the name of these designer's company that gives us a taste of new deconstruction and futuristic chic. Their Fall 2011 collection dares to play with the classic construction of clothing and giving it new twists that are subtle yet strong and fresh. Coinonia is a great example of what the new look of contemporary fashion is headed and I like it! Click the title to view more.
