Editorial Moment: Numéro #123 Goes Western

Numéro  is known for their beautiful editorials that have you at first glance. For their  #123 edition of their magazine that was no different when viewing this editorial. Maybe it was the big hair or the 1970s Vegas cowgirl look but every photo was more interesting than the next in Greg Kadel's vision. As most of you already know, hats are making a a strong comeback and the hats featured in this editorial are rich in color and visually interesting. I don't know what's going on with the model's duck bill mouth pose but outside of that this editorial was beautiful in its layering of prints and textures.

What began your interest in fashion?

When I was little my favorite thing to get for xmas was fabric. Even at a young age I loved to make clothes even if it was just for my dolls.

How long have you been working on CCPC? 

 When I decided I was going to make my own handbags I was shopping at hot topic and at the time couldn't afford any of the cool and trendy punk clothes and handbags. It was at that point I decided to make my own clothes, being that I'm a bit punk. scene and goth I tried to make all these trends fit into my design aesthetic.

What would you say is your brand CCPC is about?

The overall theme for the line Cotton Candy Punk Couture is my interpretation of punk, goth, lolita, scene, emo, girlie girl and high fashion fused into an evolution of avant garde dresses, leggings and handbags .


What makes CCPC standout from other lines?

I feel what sets Cotton Candy Punk apart form the rest is a few things: CCPC has a wide variety of different styles that speak to a wide audience, from little pop girls to punk rock mom. CCPC garments are made with recycled materials, and deconstructed clothes. 


Who are some of your favorite designers and why? 

Betsy Johnson, Priscilla Dawn, New York Couture. Betsy Johnson and New York Couture have the style I love to emulate. Priscilla Dawn I found on Etsy, she makes impeccably constructed tea and party lolita style dresses. I love what she does and have so much respect for her since I'm not there yet with my skills.

G.V.G.V Fall 2011

If Harry Potter existed in the 1990s grunge era this would probably be the clothes used. I know that sounds like some weird dream but it really works for Japanese designer MUG. Her eclectic taste for British trends blended in with Japanese street fashion makes for a very different yet very interesting collection. Using layering of prints and weights of fabric, these clothes are beautifully effortless. Fashion to me is not all about being sleek and perfect the imperfection of this line is what makes it so interesting and very wearable. When you view it, you may have a different perspective of this line the way when two different people try to interpret a piece of art work, its all about how you personally see it and I personally think it is wonderful.

Editorial Moment: Bring On The Nior

Noemie Lenoir channels the classic femme fatale in this Helmut Newton inspired shoot for GQ Spain. I adore film noir from yesteryear and seeing editorials like this make me wish film had more modern versions on this classic genera in film. Sexy, strong, and mysterious are these photographs, leaving you wanting to view more and stock up on black and white clothes. The absence of color never looked sexier.

Fashion Faux Pas

I think everyone has something in fashion that makes them want to cringe. Mine isn't exactly a thing in itself just the way some people choose to wear their clothes. Because the weather is starting to warm up here this fashion offense happens more often, I think some of you know where I am going with this...

Ill fitted clothes, I cannot stand it. Everything from not wearing the correct bra size to not accepting the fact that you don't fit into those size 0 pants anymore. I wish there was a hotline you could call for people who abuse their body parts by squishing and pressing them into small heated places. Seriously when your clothes don't fit you look like a busted can of biscuits.

Most people gain and lose weight throughout their lives it's just a fact. So if you're going through a gaining cycle just let it be, take the loss and buy a bigger size. Quit trying to squeeze your body into that itty bitty top darlin' you look like Winnie the Pooh. Some people are in so much denial that it is almost painful to look at their body parts hanging out of their clothes.  I went to school once with a girl who just out right refused to go up a size every time her body changed dramatically by the end of the year she was basically trying to put 5 lbs of sand in coin purse, her cup runneth way over. It has to hurt your spleen sitting down with pants on that small.

But you know I am a woman of constructive criticism so here are some indicators that it may be time to get a bigger size:

1. Of course is the obvious, if you have muffin top, camel toe, moose knuckle or any other funny word for balled up body parts in tight clothes, it is time to go up a size.

2. Pulling, pulling tends to happen when something is slightly ill fitting on the body. It generally happens on the widest parts of your body, on the chest or back, and the hips and behind. You know when your outfit is pulling by the diagonal folds the fabric produces. In other words it looks as though the fabric of your clothes or buttons are holding on for dear life not to tear open.

This offense happens to everyone at one point in time in their lives, whether you're skinny or heavier my advise is to not hold so tight to your size number and wear what fits you and buy some dang spanx!

 I don't generally expand into accessories much when it comes to look books but the artfulness of this photo shoot and the fact that the accessories themselves are killer I had to post about Fleet Ilya.
