Jil Sander Gives Us a Charade
I watch a lot of TCM, a lot meaning if they got rid of every channel outside of TCM and Bravo ( because I love messy reality shows) I would be totally OK. With that being said all my watching of TCM has made me out to be quite the historical costuming nerd. When I saw Jil Sander's collection I automatically thought of a 1960s suspense thriller. One specifically was 1963s Charade staring Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. It starts off at a Ski resort and ends in Paris and that is sort of what Jil Saunder walked us through when I viewed his collection. Let Google do the walking for you but you can very much tell that he was inspired by this movie. If not this one a definite Hitchcock-esque film.
Don't get me wrong, its not a bad thing a lot of collections this seasons have been 60s inspired but Jil Sander's take on it the 60s stood out. His color palette was a mix of a soft colors against a vibrant color palette that was eye catching but not harsh in anyway. The clothes stayed true to a 60s era with shapeless, voluminous dresses that were both shapeless and cinched at the waist. Along with these dresses were close fitting separates that played on the androgynous side. It was almost as though he was dressing both Hepburn and Grant's characters in the movie Charade. The last standout for this collection were the brightly colored hooded tops that definitely gave off a chic and sexy sky resort feel. Jil Sander gave us a Charade, but I enjoyed every bit of.
