shwryr: Rue du Mail Plays With Textures Fall 2011

Rue du Mail's collection is all about mixing textures and fabrics this season. Three dimensional like furs and honeycomb shaped fabrics kick off the first half of her collection. Her most visually interesting looks took on the last leg of her collection with a mixture of a fabric than can only be described as butterfly winged placed together against a flower print. This intriguing combination created a soft femininity with the slightest bit of edginess to it. The color story stayed simplistic with blacks, grays, vibrant burnt oranges and hints of plums adding to the edgy yet feminine feel of the collection. Rue du Mail's silhouettes covered two decades, the 40s and the 60s. Her garments were playful with the girlish, shapeless dresses and high waisted pants from the 60s and sexy with is 1940s movie star glam dresses with strong shoulders and fabric that fit close to the body.
