Issey Miyake's Geometric Dream

Space, angles, and symmetry are three words that could accurately describe Issey Miyake's collection for Fall 2011. Miyake stripped down this runway show into the very bare basics. The Runway itself, wider than normal and white in color highlighted the beauty of his garments against the black backdrop. His garments were simplistic in nature, yet visually  full of complexity.



Using three dimensionality in his pieces, Miyake created a world of angles and layering of two and three dimensional objects into his garments. What one's mind would think couldn't be done in a garment was achieved in this show, even in his flat printed pieces he created the illusion of height and width.  This show is a wonderful example of what can be done when a designer truly explores and experiments with fashion.
